Clearing Skies

Atlanta, Ga. Friday, March 16, 2007
High: 60 °F RealFeel®: 56 °F
A shower this morning; otherwise, mostly cloudy, breezy and cooler. This report came from AccuWeather.com , so things are looking okay for drivers that must qualify and the forecast for race day is mostly sunny but cool with a high of 62. Should make for some awesome racing!!

I try to watch ESPN2's NASCAR Now at 6:30 p.m. e.s.t. It's a decent program with a commentary by Marty Smith and there is a nightly guest with anyone from drivers to crew members. It's broadcasted in HD which makes it cool to watch. And last night I heard that Bill France Jr. has a virus and nothing serious.

So it's possible that with the CoT not being part of the Busch Series, at least for the near future, we will see a lot less Buschwackers. I have mixed feelings about Cup drivers running Busch races. It gives the cup drivers who run in a Busch race when the Cup race is held at the same track extra practice... because I think they are just out there for the fun of it... which is all good. On the other hand, I'd like to see a starting field of just Busch drivers for once, but that's only because I like to pay attention to young talent. I expect the Cot will be integrated into Busch racing eventually.

Back at the Cottage... GET OUT THE SNOW SHOVELS!!!!

Remember a few years ago when the Busch Series had a bunch of field fillers each race...Bud Vroom and Cecil Wheeler, etc...that wasn't fun to watch!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It is always nice when a new reader comments. Sorry that I won't have anything about NASCAR on my blog, I am not a real fan. I am a fan of the Lake George Area. We used to go quite often. I have many many photos of me when I was a little one at Storytown and Gaslight Village. It was weird when I was a teenager and we hadn't gone to the area in a few years, and Storytown was changed, not the park, but the name, THE GREAT ESCAPE. Does it still exist? I know that Gaslight Village had been done away with by then. I also loved the Steamboat ride as a kid. Beautiful area! Love your writings.

I think there's a few things that may happen.
1) We'll only see the real racers, guys like Tony Stewart, who just love to race;
2) There will be some short fields until some of the lower level teams move up to Busch (or Subway or walmart - whoever the new sponsor is)

I love seeing the Cup driver's in the Bucsh series. However, The Gospel according to Clance' states:
" The Busch-whacker's should be allowed to continue to race for the love of racing in the Busch Series, however, it should be for racing purposes only. It gives the Busch driver's the top end competition that they need to rise to Cup ranking. The Busch-whackers, however, should not be able to earn money or points in the Series."
Give the youngun's a chance to earn some bucks. Then we would see how many Cup driver's are really just running for the love of driving. Who would still be in there I wonder? I think we would still see Tony, the Busch Brother's, and a few others. Do I think Harvick would still be in there? Much as I luv him, nope. I think he would be long gone.

Hey Michael! Thanks so much for coming to visit Willard's Garage & the link - I'll add you on, too, as soon as I can tear myself away from the tv. this weekend!

I think I'm about 1/2 on board with Clance - letting the Cup guys drive Busch, just not accumulate points *might* maybe work - but they need to be allowed to win some dough. Somebody has to pay the pit crew! :)

I've also thought that unless a Cup guy is running a full Busch schedule -- in which case you should be treated as all the other "real" Busch drivers -- that maybe they should be limited to how many Busch races they run.

Five seems like a reasonable amount to me.

And it would be good because #1- the Cup guys may get a few more fannies in the seats for the Busch races, which in turn would #2 -allow people to get to know the up and coming drivers and possibly become repeat Busch customers.

Not to mention that a lot of the Busch boys say they do enjoy racing "the big boys" because it ups their learning curves for when they (hopefully) graduate to Cup.

Cheers to all y'all! - Dixie

Ya, you're gonna need that shovel after tonight. I'm supposed to get about a foot of snow where I live, and we are not in the direct path of this system either.

BTW, I think 5 is a good number.

Thanks everyone for the input on the Buschwhackers... that "5" limit concept has been tossing around the NASCARland for awhile...I like it.

Thanks go out to my new visitors and comment leavers... you are always welcome. And as gvav1 would say... Happy Vrooming!!!
