Revival of The Rock
Rockingham... a victim of the ever changing world of NASCAR and due to things such as lack of attendance, inclement weather and conflicting dates with California and Texas, she was shut down. Earlier this year, Andy Hillenburg purchased "The Rock" with a promise to bring racing back to this beloved high banked one miler. Things so far are moving forward with an ARCA inaugural event scheduled for Sunday, May 4th, 2008. It has been appropriately named the "Carolina 500". Hillenburg states, "We're really looking forward to hosting the Carolina 500 and making this race one of the cornerstones of the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule as well as the marquis event for Rockingham Speedway." I hope Smith considers banking at NHMS. It's a wonderful venue, but some high banking there, like "The Rock", would make Loudon an exciting race.

Let's hope the TV execs recognize the value of The Rock and we get to see the race on TV.
With so many people complaining about the Nationwide Ninjas (we won't be able to call them Buschwhackers next year), maybe there will be more interest in ARCA as the place to see great racing and the drivers of the future.
Rockingham is one of my favorite tracks. Andy is going to be a guest ON PIT ROW this week. When Steve talked to him yesterday, he said that his life has been one good thing after another ever since he bought the track. We're excited to have him on.
tsrfan, ARCA is expecting that race to be televised. Nationwide Ninjas is pretty good BTW.
